Hamilton Shirt Co. has chosen StanandLou Advertising as the company’s first advertising and branding agency of record after a review that included three other undisclosed agencies.
“We chose StanandLou because we thought they asked insightful questions and got into the heart of what we were saying,” says David Hamilton, company vice president.
Hamilton and his sister, Kelly, joined their father, Jim, in the company last year. Jim Hamilton, the grandson of the company’s founders, has been running Hamilton Shirt Co. for more than 30 years.
After 120 years in business, the Houston-based custom shirt retailer decided it was time for a change, David Hamilton says.
“In addition to retaining our current customer base, we felt it was time to appeal to a new set of customers,” he says. “We have been wholesaling to Barney’s New York since the 1980s, and advertising and branding have become more important because we don’t have interaction with those customers.”
Part of the plan is to begin designing a common look and feel to the shirt’s labels, so that a customer in Houston would be able to recognize the brand if they were shopping at Barney’s in New York. Currently, the shirts are co-labeled.
StanandLou was tapped to do work that includes updating the company’s Web site, positioning, direct response, publicity, point-of-sale and packaging.
Hamilton says the company also plans to launch another campaign in the fall.
