Mission Burrito

A Tasty History
Burrito entrepreneur Wendy Mitchell opened the first Mission Burrito location on West Alabama in 1996. Back then, Wendy and a friend were impressed with the unique and delicious style of burritos available in San Francisco’s trendy Mission District. She was bound and determined to bring this amazing concept back to Houston and opened the appropriately named “Mission Burrito” in ’96. The original West Alabama restaurant was a hit from the start, with early lines out the door and a vast and loyal following of burrito eaters still gracing our doors today on a very regular basis.
Welcome to the Family
In the Spring of 2006, Mission Burrito became a member of the family at Houston-based Mexican Restaurants, Inc (MRI). Wendy left the two legendary locations (West Alabama and I-10 & Durham) and the future of the Mission concept, in very capable, caring hands. After all, the good folks at MRI know a good thing when they see it, and taste it! Mission Burrito has quickly become the “star attraction” among the family of local MRI restaurant brand names.
A Recipe for Quality Growth
2008 has been a great year for Mission. We’ve opened two brand new locations, with a new look, to better serve hungry Houstonians. In January of ’08 Mission opened up in the Cinco Ranch area of Katy in the La Centerra Shopping Center. Our Katy success was followed up in May with the opening of our second “new look” location in Rice Village on Morningside Drive. A total of five more Mission Burrito locations are planned to open by the end of 2009 as “Mission Burrito mania” continues to spread across Houston and beyond.
Building a Better Tasting Burrito — Our Brand Promise
At Mission Burrito, “choice” is what really sets us apart from the other burrito places. Our fans know that Mission Burrito means more delicious choices for your burrito-building pleasure, like five delicious meats, including chicken, beef, pork, grilled shrimp and grilled fish, 16 (that’s right – 16) mouth watering toppings to pick from, four homemade salsas, and three kinds of fresh, hot tortillas. Throw in our made-from-scratch tortilla soup, the legendary fish tacos and our famous signature salads and you can easily see, and taste, why more choices really means more flavor at Mission Burrito.
And isn’t flavor what burrito-building is all about?
