HOUSTON, TX (Tuesday, September 8, 2009) — The Houston Dynamo, Lone Star Sports & Entertainment, and Major League Soccer announced today that the 2010 MLS All-Star Game will be held at Reliant Stadium in Houston.

The league announced on July 27 that Houston would host the annual event, and the venue will now be the 70,000-seat Reliant Stadium. The match, for which the date has yet to be announced, will pit the MLS All-Stars against an international club to be determined.

“It’s a real honor for us to be able to bring MLS players and the opponent into a building like this, which has seen great, great soccer in the last seven years since it opened,” Dynamo president and general manager Oliver Luck said. “When you talk to people around the sports business, they recognize that this is a very special building for soccer. The events that have taken place here over the years with LSSE have been great games with great crowds, and we believe this game will be very much in that mold.”

Fans from throughout North America and across the globe are expected to travel to Texas to take in the game and surrounding All-Star festivities, such as the MLS Soccer Jam that will take place during All-Star Week. The 2010 All-Star Game is included the full season ticket package. Season ticket holders who have yet to renew their account can do so by logging on to their online Account Manager here or by calling their Dynamo account representative at 713-276-7500. Season ticket holders who renew by Wednesday, September 30th will also receive a free additional season ticket that is good for all 2010 Dynamo regular season home games.

“I have personally seen many MLS All-Star Games in my professional career, and it’s amazing how far the event has come in popularity, in quality, and in competition-level,” Lone Star Sports and Entertainment general manager Chris Keeney said. “It’s really a great event. We’re certainly glad to be able to provide the stadium so we can turn out the largest crowd, perhaps, in all-star history, and do it in front of the greatest fans in the entire nation: Houston.”

The Dynamo will next be in action on Sunday, September 13, when they face the Columbus Crew on the road. Houston will next play at home on Saturday, September 19, kicking off a stretch of six home games at Robertson Stadium in 30 days.

Kamikaze Karaoke with our Houston Dynamo Marketing Team!

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Enjoyed a fun evening last night with our friends from the marketing department of the Houston Dynamo. We visited Spotlight Karaoke for Happy Hour and had a blast.

Lindsay  Daywalt, Marketing Director for the Dynamo, was the ringleader and got everyone on the stage to participate — even me.

It was my first time to karaoke although many friends have tried to get me to do it through the years but I was able to uphold my dignity until, well, last night.

Lindsay and I sang an old Neil Diamond classic, “Sweet Caroline.” Lot’s  of fun was had by all as well as a lot of beer!

At the end of the night, everyone hopped on stage and did a spirited group sing of “Love Shack” by the B-52’s.  SEE ALL THE PHOTOS HERE.

STANANDLOU heats up 2Q with three new business wins

Friday, June 5th, 2009

(HOUSTON)  STANANDLOU Marketing//Advertising added three new companies to its client roster with the addition of Kolache Mama, Renaissance Healthcare System, and the Houston Dynamo. Billings for the three Houston-based companies were not disclosed.

Kolache Mama awarded STANANDLOU their marketing and public relations business after a review of several New York City and Houston agencies.

“I am pleased to relate the appointment of STANANDLOU as the advertising and marketing arm for Mama’s house,” stated Richard Saler, president of Kolache Mama. “This group is strong on both the creative and execution requirements necessary to help Mama reach the consumer/corporate markets she is seeking.”

The agency will be responsible for all aspects of marketing, advertising, PR, collateral, and web-based media.

“We are extremely excited and flattered by our new relationship with Kolache Mama, stated Michelle Reed, principal at STANANDLOU. “They needed local marketing and public relations representation that could respond quickly and effectively to the many challenges of introducing a new food concept to the New York City market.”

Saler added, “The approaches outlined by STANANDLOU are not only cost effective, but more importantly, unique and special. We are fortunate to find this rare breed here in Houston.” (more…)

The Houston Dynamo – Kickoff

Dynamo's 2 MLS Trophies

The 2 MLS Trophies

The 2009 MLS season has begun, which doesn’t really seem like it should be a big deal in Texas, where football is king. Well, here at Stanandlou we are some excited about fútbol.

One of our new clients on the roster is the Houston Dynamo, Houston’s very own Major League Soccer team. I, for one, was very excited about the new addition, being that I am Dynamo-crazy.

My first experience with the Dynamo was their 2007 playoff game against F.C. Dallas. They went on after that game to win the 2007 MLS Championship. I was hooked. I never considered myself a soccer fan, but the atmosphere was amazing. The Texian Army and Batallon (imagine an entire section of fans, jumping, chanting, playing instruments, throwing streamers for 90 minutes) lifted the energy of the entire stadium. I knew that Dynamo games were going to become a regular part of my life here in Houston.

Last year I spent learning all the players names, brushing up on soccer penalties and rules, and toying with the idea of sneaking into the Batallon’s section. This year is going to be the best year yet. How could it not be? It started off with a bang: the Kickoff Luncheon.

Dynamo Diesel was there, hanging out with the players and Dynamo Girls. Brandy scored a hug. How cute, right?

The luncheon opened with a silent auction of all kinds of cool Dynamo gear – signed jerseys, signed soccer balls, T-shirts, etc. There were also things up for grabs like lunch with Stuart Holden or Oliver Luck.

They introduced the roster - there are a few new players this year – Julius James, Danny Cruz, and Tyler Deric. Each table had one of the guys sitting at it. We got to sit with the Assistant Coach, John Spencer, a veteran soccer player turned coach.

During the lunch, there was a Q&A section with the players. Questions ranged from strategy to “what is your favorite video game?” The players all were good sports about the whole thing. They seem like a great group of guys.

After the luncheon was coming to an end, I swallowed my pride and ran to get autographs. I managed to get pictures and autographs from some of my favorite players: Pat Onstad, Brian Ching, Stuart Holden, Chris Wondolowski and Corey Ashe. I even got pictures with them! I was so excited/nervous my face was bright pink!

I am looking forward to the rest of the season. The homeopener was a great success. Over 16,000 fans turned out March 21st, one of the larger attendances for a homeopener this year in the MLS.

I will be Forever Orange!
